Grant Description

China has been sending medical teams to Tanzania every two years since 1968.

Shandong Province has been responsible for sending the teams (not to be confused with medical teams to Zanzibar, which are sent by Jiangsu Province). On August 7, 2009, the 21st Chinese medical team arrived in Dar es Salaam.

The team of 23 medical experts was to give medical aid to Muhimbili National Hospital, Dodoma provincial hospital and Tabora and Mara hospitals. The team completed the mission and returned to China in August 2011. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
