Chinese Government Grants 54 Scholarships for AY 2008-2009 in Cambodia (Linked to Record ID#32459)

In August 2008, the Chinese embassy handed over admission notices to 54 Cambodian students who won the Chinese Government Scholarship for the academic year 2008-2009.The scholarship would cover the tuition fee, and include a stipend for accommodation and study material, and a living allowance.

The students are recommended by different ministries and institutions, and they are awarded the scholarships after rounds of strict selections.

All of them, including 21 bachelor's degree candidates, 29 master's degree candidates, two general scholars and two doctor's degree candidates, will register in their universities in early September, making the total number of Cambodian students staying in China in academic year 2008-2009 reach 80. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
