A Chinese medical team has been sent to Cambodia to aid in alleviation of an outbreak of EV71, an intestinal virus.
The four-member team, which consisted of experts from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Beijing Children's Hospital, arrived in Phnom Penh on July 12th 2012, Thursday morning with medical supplies.
The Chinese team will assist Cambodian medical workers in analyzing the virus, treating patients, studying the epidemic and training local staff. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
