The Inter-European Squadron Officer School (IESOS) (5 weeks) is designed to prepare junior officers (OF-2) to operate on Commanders intent and prepare them for increased leadership roles and responsibilities.
The curriculum is developed by the Squadron Officer School at Maxwell Air Force Base under the strict guidelines set forth by the United States Air Force Air University.
After completing this course, graduates will have acquired and practiced new leadership skills, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, teambuilding, and mentoring techniques.
These new skillsets will help them lead and motivate personnel to accomplish the mission, both at their home units and abroad in the joint environment.
Course activities challenge each student to apply newly learned principles successfully and to influence group dynamics, cohesion, and effectiveness in a positive manner.
IESOS is a course for officers, who had or will complete their own Air Force academic requirements for promotion to the rank of major, or as a required course for promotion.
This course includes the following blocks of instruction: administration, extracurricular activities, profession of arms, warfare, leadership, communication, and international security studies.
