Grant Description

In December 2005, Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Guo Chongli signed an agreement for economic and technical cooperation in Jowhar, Somalia with Somali President, Abdulahi Yusuf Ahmed, by which the Chinese government granted 50 million Yuan (roughly $7.5 million) as well as $100,000 in cash to Somalia for financing the provision of goods or previously-agreed upon projects.

Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
