Chinese Government provides $4.5 million grant for Au Cap Primary School Construction Project

On February 10, 2007, Seychelles Minister for Industries, Investment and Technology Jacquelin Dugasse and China's Minister for Commerce Bo Xilai, signed a series of agreements in an event that was witnessed by President Hu Jintao of China and President James Michel of Seychelles. One of the agreements related to the construction of a new primary school at Au Cap.

Then, on February 13, 2007, the Chinese Government and the Government of Seychelles signed letters of exchange related to the Au Cap Primary School Construction Project. China’s Ministry of Commerce was the source of funding and it committed $4.5 million in total. The contractor responsible for implementation is unknown.

Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
