The Leiden Open Variation Database (LOVD) is an online database containing information on patients with genetic diseases, containing unique and high-quality curated information on genetic variants and their association with disease. LOVD instances form a worldwide network storing data from 1500000 individuals.
They are browsed yearly by 200000 institutes and receive hundreds of millions of requests from computer programs.
They are not yet automatically findable, accessible, interoperable, reuseable for computers (FAIR) for federated analytics, AI, and machine-learning with multiple sources worldwide. This project advances Open science by making LOVD FAIR and part of the national and global FAIR infrastructure.
