Since 2012, the DOME network has been researching patients´ access to their medical records online and related e-health services.
The network has produced more than 130 research publications, of which over 30 were published in the last three years when the network also had network funding from Forte. However, new challenges lie ahead.
Among other things, the new EU regulation to introduce a common European Health Data Space (EHDS) will also significantly affect the use of health data in Sweden.
With the experience and expertise the DOME network has from over ten years of research on shared health data for patients and healthcare providers, the DOME network can contribute with the necessary knowledge.
The DOME network currently consists of 16 Swedish and three Nordic researchers from different disciplines and with different career levels, from PhD students to professors. Included disciplines are technology/natural sciences, social sciences, medicine and humanities.
This renewed grant application aims to further strengthen the DOME network and to expand European and international research collaboration in shared health data.
The DOME network has an excellent opportunity to take a leading position in Europe and contribute to the implementation work needed regarding EHDS.
Not least, this applies to research regarding patients´ access to their medical records and similar e-health services, as well as meeting the requirements of EHDS and the shortcomings that DOME´s research has already addressed in its results.
