This is an application for publication support for “Socialvetenskaplig tidskrift” (SVT), a Swedish journal for social science research and social issues an interdisciplinary journal published since 1994. It was initiated by the National Association for Research in Social Work (FORSA) who is the owner of the journal.
FORSAs policy is that the journal editorial board should rotate between different universities. From 2025, the editorial board will be placed at the Department of Social Work, University of Gothenburg.
Our goal is to strengthen and develop the work of previous editors.SVT is published four times per year including original double blind peer-reviewed articles and a special issue every year and in addition to this, scientific debates and reviews. SVT plays an important role in the dissemination of research in the social field.
It is perceived as an important link between, professionals and decision-makers in the welfare sector.
Demands for evidence-based practice and interdisciplinary and cross-professional collaboration increase the need for channels where research findings can be shared and discussed.
Furthermore, the journal has an important role to play by providing professionals and students with research in Swedish.
Further research in social sciences is increasingly published in international academic journals in English and on premises that cannot always be transferred in any obvious way to a Swedish context.
Within the social science field, there are several questions that are context-specific, questions related to the design and change of the Swedish welfare state that deserve a specific forum. To enable and uphold a well-informed, academic discussion in Sweden, an accessible journal as SVT is invaluable.
