Grant Description

This application concerns the visit of Dr.

Lengnick-Hall to the unit of Intervention and Implementation Research for worker health (IIR) at the Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM), Karolinska Institute (KI) for six weeks under 2025. Dr. Lengnick-Hall is an Assistant Professor on the tenure-track at the Brown School at Washington University in St.

Louis, US. She is a social work and organization science trained implementation researcher.

Since 2020 IIR has established a collaboration with researchers from Brown School, a leading institute within dissemination and implementation research with pioneers in the field. Dr.

Lengnick-Hall’s visit will contribute with new perspectives in the understanding of implementing evidence-based interventions within organizational settings, including functioning and measurement of implementation strategies, bridging factors that connect outer system and inner organizational contexts, and policy implementation within health and working-life.

All these areas require further research to facilitate the implementation and sustainment of evidence-based interventions. Dr.

Lengnick-Hall’s expertise will advance our understanding of the functioning of multi-level implementation strategies in our ongoing research projects by applying a mixed-methods approach. Moreover, Dr.

Lengnick-Hall’s visit will promote learning and knowledge exchange within implementation research for grant applications and future projects.

During her visit she will co-author manuscripts, contribute to joint cutting-edge grant applications, be involved in teaching and mentoring doctoral students, hold university-wide scientific talks and workshops, and support the development of an implementation research infrastructure at KI. Dr.

Lengnick-Hall’s visit is highly relevant for accelerating the implementation of evidence-based interventions within organizational settings with the ultimate goal of preventing ill-health and promoting well-being among employees.
