Grant Description

The research group Healthcare Sciences and eHealth, Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, Uppsala University, invites Dr Sugg, lecturer at the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, University of Exeter, United Kingdom.Dr Sugg is an expert in developing and testing complex interventions by using mixed methods i.e., using qualitative and quantitative methods within the same research project.

Her research is oriented towards applying novel integrative mixed methods analysis techniques to inform the development of personalised interventions. Our research group lacks methodological expertise in integrative mixed methods analysis techniques.

This knowledge will enable more in-depth analysis of our existing data sets, which can inform the development of personalised interventions by tailoring interventions to individuals.Dr Sugg will engage in activities designed to translate knowledge and foster research collaboration.Activities for knowledge translation: We plan 1) two workshops in integrative mixed methods analysis techniques for PhD students and researchers across Sweden; 2) two presentations at our seminar series; and 3) a guest lecture on our PhD course on public contribution in research.Activities for research collaboration: We plan to 1) conduct a scoping review on the use of integrative mixed methods analysis techniques in complex interventions research and publish two manuscripts; 2) work on grant applications; and 3) hold mentor meetings with research group members with quantitative and qualitative datasets who wish to use integrative mixed methods analysis techniquesThe visit presents a unique opportunity for our research group and other Swedish researchers to benefit from Dr Sugg´s expertise in integrative mixed methods analysis techniques, which should add value to complex intervention research conducted in Sweden.
