Grant Description

The purpose of this project is to enhance Swedish research on intimate partner violence (IPV) related to childbearing by integrating insights from the international research community, particularly from Australia. This will strengthen the quality and societal relevance of the research.

The project aims to foster connections, learning, and exchange of experiences between researchers in Sweden and Australia who are active in IPV research.

Societal Relevance and Utilization:International Collaboration and Networking: By collaborating with prominent researchers such as Professor Kathleen Baird, Professor Leesa Hooker, and Professor Kelsey Hegarty, the project will benefit from their expertise in IPV research.

This includes designing and executing research projects as well as participating in workshops and seminars to share knowledge and gain new insights.Improved Research Quality and Societal Relevance: By integrating international perspectives and methods, the research will become more robust and relevant to society.

This is particularly important for understanding and addressing IPV during the childbearing period, which is an under-researched area both in Sweden and globally.Development of Interventions and Support: The project will provide crucial insights for planning care within the healthcare system.

By understanding how IPV affects the transition to parenthood, care can be better tailored to support affected women.Increased Knowledge of IPV During Pregnancy: The research will investigate how IPV manifests during pregnancy and after childbirth, as well as the factors influencing the cessation or initiation of violence during this period.

This is critical for preventing violence and improving health outcomes for both mothers and children. In summary, the guest researcher stay will contribute significant knowledge to the research field through international collaboration, improved research quality, and increased understanding of IPV during the childbearing period.
