Grant Description

Dr.

Jessica Lieffers from the University of Saskatchewan will undertake a research visit to Uppsala University from April 1 to April 30, 2025.

This visit aims to significantly advance the INIS (International Nutrition Care Process and Terminology Implementation Survey) project, a major international study examining the global implementation of standardized processes and terminologies among dietitians, and their integration with electronic health records.

The 2023 INIS study, which involved approximately 15,000 dietitians from nearly 30 countries, represents the largest effort to date in nutrition informatics, offering profound insights into dietetic practices and outcome management.Dr.

Lieffers, who has led the Canadian component of the INIS project since 2016, will focus on collaborative data analysis and manuscript preparation.

Her expertise in clinical nutrition and informatics will enhance the depth of our research and result in high-impact publications.

The visit will also foster stronger ties between Uppsala University and the University of Saskatchewan, enrich our PhD students´ research experiences, and expand their professional networks through direct mentorship and guidance.Additionally, Dr.

Lieffers will deliver lectures on Canadian dietetic practices and INIS findings, providing valuable perspectives on current trends and challenges in clinical nutrition.

Her visit includes a tour of Karolinska University Hospital to explore clinical practices relevant to the INIS study, and discussions on potential collaborations, including integrating the University of Saskatchewan’s FYRE (First Year Research Experience) program into our curriculum.

This comprehensive engagement will bolster our research capabilities, enhance educational offerings, and lay the groundwork for sustained international collaboration.
