During a month-long visit to Stanford University in January-February 2025, I will focus on advancing a collaborative project that explores the dynamics of income and residential segregation of families with children in Sweden.
The visit will offer an excellent opportunity to work intensively on co-authoring a paper and developing a project proposal that examines the longitudinal aspects of residential income segregation in Sweden.
This research will address key questions about the relationship between school proximity, socioeconomic status, and family relocation patterns in relation to income segregation of families and children.
Given the historical significance of the U.S. in segregation studies, this visit presents a valuable opportunity to engage with U.S. scholars, exchange ideas, and gain insights from their experiences. The stay will also include participation in workshops and seminars at Stanford´s Sociology Department, the Graduate School of Education, as well as at the Scandinavian Consortium for Organizational Research.
These engagements will foster networking opportunities with leading scholars in the fields of inequality and segregation.
Additionally, the visit aims to strengthen international academic ties between Stanford University and Linköping University, facilitating future collaborations.Overall, this research visit is expected to offer valuable opportunities to learn about the inequality and segregation research at Stanford University and within the US, expand my academic network, and foster the development of long-term international research partnerships between Linköping University and Stanford University.
Furthermore, the research outcomes from this visit is anticipated to make a significant contribution to the understanding of segregation patterns of families and children in Sweden, ultimately providing meaningful benefits to the society as a whole.
