The project addresses the socio-environmental footprints of personal savings in Sweden, deemed the sector with highest per capita source of emissions in the country, yet less visible in public discourse and discussion.
This trans-disciplinary research sets out to assemble, communicate and disseminate with the public about the state of things and the transformative potential of the national public pension system.
The project develops a public communication and learning methodology which draws on inputs and is in dialogue with political ecology, environmental humanities, and artistic research.
It will result in a new body of artistic works which blends autoethnographic, critical and documentary poetry to document and narrate transnational connections created by public finance, in particular between the developed and developing regions.
The project further develops and uses public pedagogy for empowering and inspiring citizen engagement with the question through workshops and co-publishing.
The methodology takes the specific contentions and socio-environmental conflict as a source of potential transformative change for fair and just sustainable futures on a planetary level. The project will benefit from collaboration with the political ecology research project EJAtlas - Global Atlas of Environmental Justice, and research stays in South Africa.
