Background The field of ambulance and emergency care research in Sweden is a relatively unexplored area, especially in terms of research including a caring science perspective.
One reason for the field being young and relatively underdeveloped could be the lack of scientifically qualified researchers with experience in supervising research students in ambulance and emergency care from a caring science perspective.
Therefore, in 2014, the Ambulance Health Research network (AHRN) was established to promote and strengthen caring science research within ambulance and emergency care.
Caring science is an autonomous and profession-neutral science, which emphasizes the need to combine various perspectives on research.
Since 2014, the number of research students, doctoral graduates, and supervisors in the research field has increased, but there is still a need to strengthen the field through collaboration across regional and university boundaries.Symposium AHRN organizes an annual symposium where research students, professionals, as well as junior and senior researchers are invited to present current and planned caring science research in ambulance and emergency care.
The next symposium is planned for March 2024 and will be held in Stockholm. The responsible organizers are researchers from Dalarna University, Sophiahemmet University, and Umeå University. The number of participants has varied between 35-50 attendees from across Sweden since 2014. The symposium begins with a dinner to facilitate travel, and are followed by the symposium taking place over one day.
Announcements about the symposium have been made in social media, and there is great interest in the target group, as the pandemic has prevented arrangement of symposiums for some time. Our application aims to financially support traveling for research students and junior researchers to participate in the symposium
