During the visit (February – June 2024 ), the visiting researcher will work jointly with the main applicant and his project team on common research.
We will present and discuss the research as part of several seminars/workshop series at the Department of Epidemiology and Global Health and the Faculty of Medicine, Umeå University, to receive broader scientific input on our common work, as a point of departure for mutual academic exchange, and as a platform for making new contact with interested researchers.
The researcher will also contribute to the broader academic environment through participation in the additional research seminars offered at the department, faculty and university during the visit.
The invited researcher is specifically selected to contribute to an ongoing research direction by the main applicant, which concerns identifying potential public health targets that could prevent and counteract complex inequalities in health.
Complex inequalities in health are the result of interaction between multiple inequalities and is a recently emerging study within epidemiology and public health research, which is great need of both empirical evidence and methodological development.
The researcher is selected because he is specialized in the study of inequalities in health behaviours, and is skilled in analytical approaches which will be developed.
These two competencies that the main applicant and project team lacks and are therefore of special importance for the specific research, but are therefore also expected to be able to contribute to the scientific environment of the department.
The visiting researcher has already made an exploratory visit at the department in Spring 2023, which ended with mutual engagement to develop this relationship into an involved collaboration. The present application is intended to provide a starting point for such a collaboration.
