Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS)--Jordan.

Abt AssociatesStrengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) projectis USAIDs flagship initiative in private sector health.It works to involve nongovernmental organizations and for-profit entities to address the many health needs of people in the developing world.

SHOPS focuses onincreasing availability, improving quality, and expanding coverage of essential health products and servicesin family planning and reproductive health, maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, and other areas through the private sector.

The agreement, awarded to Abt Associates as the lead, includes five partners:Banyan Global, OHanlon Health Consulting,Jhpiego,Marie Stopes International, andMonitor Group.

The SHOPS project builds on USAIDs decades of support for leadership in private health sector programming and on the work of its predecessor projects, Private Sector Partnerships-One and Banking on Health, both led by Abt Associates.
