Patient experiences and medical education are unfortunately often disconnected, despite the mutual desire of both groups to be involved in the learning process. Indeed, training both healthcare professionals and patients is crucial for improving patient outcomes.
Patients will learn about key aspects of diagnosis, treatment, and medical reasoning, while healthcare professionals will gain insight into what patients feel is important about their experiences with healthcare across Europe. This project represents a paradigm shift in healthcare education.
Building on the successes of EIT Health-funded initiatives in 2020 and 2021, the top-ranked SmashMedicine project aims to educate citizens by promoting an empathetic and shared approach to medical treatment.
