Grant Description

R2STAIR will boost the career prospective of R2STAIR will boost the career perspectives of 8 junior R2 fellows (PhD holders who are not yet fully independent) by training their skills throughout the research life cycle in Prehistory and Human Evolution studies (from fieldwork to a societal impact through heritage enhancement).

To this end, this program will complement IPHES’ experience on interdisciplinary research and intersectoral collaboration with about thirty international Partner Organisations (Research Institutes, Universities, Museums and City Councils), willing to host specialised secondments.

Furthermore, short and medium stays, with specific first-hand training in ongoing processes of heritagisation promoted by IPHES, will be facilitated around archeopaleontological sites such as Sierra de Atapuerca, Barranc de la Boella or Camp dels Ninots.

These processes are providing, at different scales, evidences of political and socioeconomical impact of IPHES’ activities, asexamples of how Prehistory and Human Evolution Studies can be lead to Public-Private-Partnerships, Tourism Master Plans or a Regional RIS3 project.

This will be done without prejudice of choice alternative entities according to the 'Individualdriven mobility principle'.IPHES has a strong research profile in Prehistory and Human Evolution through a concentration of multidisciplinary approaches to the archaeological record, having an extended presence in different scientific communities.

For instance, between 2014 and 2018 IPHES has published 464 papers in 87 journals with Impact Factor at 22 different WOS Subject categories, reflecting the broad spectrum of the research carried out.As a result, fellows will benefit from the IPHES’ experience and will also contribute to improve the European Research Area as one of the most attractive environments to grow and progress as a researcher, boosting its international visibility and further increasing the quality of research and innovation developed.
