The aim of this project is to inspire students from low science capital and high unemployment and socioeconomically deprived areas to continue an interest in STEAM subjects by exposing them to a variety of astronomy and space topics.
We also aim to inspire future space scientists and engineers as well as artists and fashion designers by demonstrating various art techniques using objects in the universe as subjects. This project aims to increase: - Enjoyment and engagement in cross-curricular STEAM lessons using space as a context
- Pupil aspirations and attainment levels in STEAM subjects - Knowledge of higher education and career opportunities available to pupils who study STEAM - Teacher confidence in teaching space topics in the classroom - Teacher knowledge of STFC resources available and supporting websites This project also aims to provide:
- Art and craft resources in order to aid school homework and continue creativity away from school. - Clothing items that pupils have designed to help deprived families with living costs. - STFC stationary resources such as pencils, pencil sharpeners, rulers and coloured pencils - STFC resource activity books such as The Moon, The Sun, Space Rocks and Hands on Universe books
