Grant Description

This funding will enable the purchase and construction of an adaptive optics test-bench for the characterisation of a novel wavefront sensor that is based on superconducting, energy sensitive detectors.

Such a wave-front sensor, when it is completed would form part of an instrument such as the ELT-PCS, which will search for terrestrial planets when it is built in the 2030's.
