A major challenge in modern architecture is to design energy efficient buildings, which still have big enough windows to give us a feeling of ample daylight.
To change this, Solartes develops a new window concept that enhances our indoor comfort and improves the energy efficiency of a building.
The key is our transparent smart material, which harvests solar energy and releases heat on demand. When the temperature drops, the stored energy can be released by the push of a button, to increase the comfort next to the window and reduce the need for heating. This technology could make it possible to produce windows 10% more cost-efficiently than current windows and increase their energy efficiency by 50%.
The objective of this project is to validate the market potential of our product. To this end, we will fabricate a Solartes window prototype, assess the impact of our technology on the energy efficiency of a building and engage in joint testing with potential customers.
