Grant Description

PEM electrolysis for the production of H2 from water is considered one of the cornerstones of a future CO2 free economy. However, the electrodes used in PEM are highly dependent on expensive and rare noble metals.

In order to reach the global goals for electrolysis installations with PEM, the excavation of these metals would have to increase 20-50 times!

Ionautics' modularly scalable method for producing nanoparticle electrodes lowers the usage of platinum 30-60 times and iridium 10-200 times, making it a key enabling technology for PEM.

The purpose of the project is to ensure and protect the scalability of the case by; validating the quantified need, verify the business model, create an IPR strategy for the technology and test in the customer’s customer’s environment.

This will be done in together with new and existing contacts in the value chain performed by a team who together have extensive knowledge about the business, the application and the nanoparticle technology itself.
