Grant Description

Technology applications are increasingly data and memory intensive. In 2016 the amount of data stored in servers was 286EB and is expected to reach 1.3ZB in 2021. In the last decade, data centres consumed 3% of the global electricity supply. Globally, data centres used 416.2TWh in 2015, which is expected to triple in the next decade.

We have developed Ziptilion, an innovative, patented compression technology consisting of an IP block on a chip. It exploits the memory resources so efficiently that it doubles memory capacity and bandwidth which significantly increases the performance of a computer. The result is a system that delivers up to 50% more performance per watt and have the potential to cut energy consumption by half.

The project aims at productify a new generation of algorithms that enables an additional 50% reduction of energy consumption of server memory systems. We apply for funds to partly finance the cost of patents that will protect our energy innovation.
