AUSTERLAND SKAGS will investigate the conditions for reduced use of fossil fuels in the transport sector, in agriculture and in housing.
The goal is to, from the local community's social perspective and resources, examine the conditions for building a climate-promoting and robust energy system, which challenges current regulations. The energy system is based on solar cells placed on irrigation ponds.
Production, storage, consumption and control are integrated into a robust and innovative whole - a pilot plant, where important general aspects of the energy conversion challenges are highlighted.
The project collaborates with network owners, local companies and a unit-owning public and develops new rules of the game, new technology and effective strategies to involve various actors - with reduced CO2 emissions as the overall goal.
The results of the project have great opportunities to be realized and scaled up in local communities both on Gotland and nationally and internationally.
