The project aims to validate a unique concept where an optimized, and modular, roof structure for solarparking is combined with a patented technology for storing energy via compressed air.
A concept that can increase the ability to store energy from renewable energy sources, as a competitive alternative to batteries. Batteries have a linear cost curve, which makes it costly to store a lot of power. Compressed air storage makes this possible in a cheaper way than batteries, depending on quantity.
The goal is to build the world's first pilot plant with this combination and test it for 12 months together with COOP Visby, COOP Sweden and other potential users on Gotland. Which is in need of renewable energy, storage and cooling (produced as a residual product during storage).
After the end of the project, the goal is to have validated the technology, suitable business arrangements and started plans for at least 3-5 additional installations on Gotland in 2022.
