Electrification of heavy transport is part of the transition to achieving Sweden's climate goals. Gotland is a pilot area that can lead the way in the transition to a sustainable energy system and transport. The project will study innovative solutions focussing on electrification of vehicles.
The entire energy system, use and charging infrastructure need to be understood and developed smartly to implement change in a real workplace.
With SMF Roma Grus as a pilot company, several uses are studied for a smart electrification of Gotland's transport system. Energy saving potential is 75% thus reducing emissions. The entire value chain is represented, vehicles to end users. AB Volvo as an expert on electric vehicles and Vattenfall with energy storage.
GEAB is the network owner and supports the smart use of the built-up energy system. Energicentrum Gotland and the project Sustainable transport are also involved. Ecoloop is a consultant and expert in project management and electric transport.
