The Nuclear Materials Platform (NuMaP) is proposed as an innovation-enabling, timely and critical national project that can respond to several key challenges in the Swedish electrification process. Safety, economy and sustainability in the nuclear energy industry are all depending on the materials used for the critical components. For current reactors, fuel efficiency and long term operation are key challenges.
For the emerging nuclear industry including advanced reactors, materials research is the enabling force that drives innovation and opens new possibilities.
NuMaP will gather researchers and industry from across the country working on nuclear materials under a common umbrella and establish an inclusive environment which will promote much needed competence build-up, exciting research and innovation output, public outreach as well as high scientific and societal impact. NuMaP will play an essential part in preparing Sweden for its fossil-free future.
