Nepp – North European Energy Perspectives Project

Nepp is a multidisciplinary research project focusing on the development of energy systems in Sweden in a European context. In a short time, the threats against Sweden and Europe have increased and Europe's energy security has fundamentally changed. Growing tensions in the world are accelerating an already waning globalization and increased nationalism.

This strongly affects the conditions for the energy and climate transition, including for investments in the Swedish basic industry and in new energy infrastructure in Sweden. Nepp focuses on six particularly important dimensions: 1. The consequences for the Swedish energy transition of Russia's war in Ukraine

2. European energy and climate policy 3. The conditions for the industry's investments 4. Long-term investments in new electricity production and new electricity grids 5. The path to a sustainable energy system 6. The availability of critical metals necessary for the green transition
