Mobile Hydrogen Refueling Solution (MHRS)

Volvo Group plans to develop and demonstrate a Mobile Hydrogen Refueling Solution (MHRS) that is transported on one or several vehicles. The solution is modular as it consists of components that are currently used in stationary applications. The components have a proven technical maturity (RL 5) but have not previously been combined in a mobile solution.

The innovation lies in the mobilization of the system, as well as the possibility of using the solution off-grid and off-road.

The project will develop a demonstrator which is demonstrated in a relevant operating environment and thus achieves at least RL 6. The demonstrator is planned to be developed from autumn 2022 for demonstration in Sweden in early 2025.

The aim is to demonstrate mobile distribution of electricity and hydrogen from production to users in relevant environments.
