The project addresses the problem of high energy use in churches. Heating costs can force measures to be taken without a sufficient holistic perspective. This can involve risks to the building and the indoor environment.
An interdisciplinary group will evaluate implemented practical energy efficiency measures from a holistic perspective that includes quantitative and qualitative aspects of energy use, indoor environment, humidity conditions, management and building antiquarian aspects. Examples of measures are updating windows with energy pane and updating heating systems and their control systems.
The aim is to present good examples of practical measures that provide good air quality, minimized heat demand and the right moisture conditions so that cultural environments can be preserved.
The examples will be presented in a guide to inspire and as part of a decision tool that creates an understanding of the need to choose the right technology in a holistic perspective.
