This project targets to advance research and design of high-energy-density solid-state batteries, one of the most promising next generation technologies.
In particular, we target to stabilize the interface between the Li-metal anode and the solid electrolyte, a bottleneck to advance from laboratory scale to real applications.
In the project we combine design of materials, operando characterization of interface evolution, and the evaluation in large format cells.
We merge complementary competencies at Chalmers, the industrial partner Quintus Technologies, experts in warm isostatic pressing of high-performance solid electrolytes, and the international collaborator Hanyang University (Korea), experts in high-capacity cathodes.
Training of next generation of researchers in next generation batteries is also an important aspect of the project (junior researcher, PhD, MSc and BSC) as well as dissemination of project results and knowledge transfer to stakeholders.
