This project aims to reduce emissions from the transport sector through an increased degree of electrification of heavy vehicles. The proposal is completely in line with FFI's roadmap in Energy and the Environment and is a prerequisite for Sweden to achieve set climate goals.
The project is expected to develop a new modular and scalable driveline for heavy vehicles that will be validated in an ARFF - Airport Rescue Fire Fighter, ie. a fire truck adapted to the airport environment. In addition, rechargeable variants of fire engines will be required for future procurement of the rescue service, which are intended users of the vehicles, in order to eventually be able to replace large parts of the existing stock of rescue service vehicles throughout the country.
The main applicant and coordinator for the project is RISE Research Institute of Sweden AB and co-applicants are Scania and five rescue service unions in Sweden and Win Guard. The reference group includes MSB.
