Project goal is to evaluate test results and compile a Research Report for submission to the ASTM Committee to approve a new certification annex to ASTM D7566-18 for the production of sustainable jet fuel using the alcohol to jet pathway (ATJ).
The Research Report will be based on results obtained from Tier 1 to 4 tests over 10-years on jet fuel with aromatics (ATJ-SKA); tests made by US AFRL, UDRI, SwRi, GE and P&W. Both neat ATJ-SKA and blended fuel tested. The report will follow the guidelines of ASTM D4054.
The report will show that ATJ-SKA is similar to jet fuel derived from petroleum, that the properties of ATJ-SKA neat fuel fall within the experience base of standard jet fuels.
Benefit of the project is the expected ASTM certification for 1) 100% replacement of fossil jet fuel by SAF, 2) wider raw material base, 3) inclusion of renewable aromatics.
