Further development, optimization and experimental verification of NoviOcean: A novel and cost-effective wave energy converter

The project aims to improve the technology readiness level of Novige's unique WEC concept NoviOcean, through extensive testing, development, optimization and upgrading of the current prototype.

Partly motivated by the feedback from the experts hired by the Energy Agency, a need for improving various components has been identified.Therefore, during this project, all remaining critical scaling issues, minor control software bugs & integration issues will be resolved.

Based on ongoing modelling and numerical analyses performed by internal and 3rd party experts, the design shall be upgraded & the concept's efficiency improved by at least 10-50% (varies depending on component & system). Further tests will be carried out at sea, in an existing test rig at KTH & in a wave tank

The aim is to demonstrate under real conditions that the concept can deliver the claimed potential. The project will form the basis for the planned scaled-up prototype, where a 500kW pilot unit will be evaluated
