The development of so-called micro grids where multiple neighboring property owners share local energy sources has been pointed out by the EU-commission as well as by the Swedish Government as an important step towards reaching the climate goals.
The aim of this project is to develop city districts forming microgrids that can locally trade heating and cooling with the intent to reduce the overall energy usage, direct or indirect through energy storage or energy conversion. The project results in an energy system design, with the purpose of implementation in a planned city district called Jonstaka comprising of 2000 apartments, shopping malls and smaller businesses.
The research is performed through 8 workpackages, where legal, ethical and financial strategies, for optimal energy trade will be investigated. The results are conveyed in a digital platform, will be used for further research, spread through the partner network and brought towards a market solution by involved partners.
