In order to reach to environmental goal of zero net emission of CO2 in 2045 the electrification of road transports need to gain traction in the near term. Replacing the fossile fuel of today with the equivalent amount of bio-fuel is not only impossible due to the sheer amount of bio-fuels necessary, but the regrowth cycle of bio-fuels is long compared to the time-scale of the CO2-reduction.
This project aims to study the battery capacity that small road carriers need in order to keep their current customers based on three different scenarios: • In scenario one the vehicles are only able to charge during the night, typically in their home depo. • In scenario two extends scenario one with the ability to charge while loading/unloading at (some) customer sites.
• In scenario three extends scenario two with the ability to charge at some public fast-charging stations (and while travelling along electric road systems where such might be available) while taking a break.
