Energy communities (EC) can be a solution for energy conversion challenges. The project studies EC in a broad sense, future solutions in a legal, sustainable and business context is important. The project investigates optimal conditions for MEG or FEG.
To cover about 80% of the building market and to understand different driving forces for EC, two control models and new and existing construction in the pilots are demonstrated: new building in Örebro run by the city and existing construction in Hammarby Sjöstad run by BRF.
We develop guidelines for policy, procurement, services, innovations, business plans and show the potential of the EC for energy and climate change. The pilots have a potential to decrease the power requirement by 50% and save at least 30% energy.
The project can make Sweden an international leader in innovative energy services to enable EC in both new and existing buildings and contribute to the change of policy that prevents energy conversion linked to the EC.
