The purpose of this project is to investigate the conditions for changing public transport flows and thus traffic flows in general and in particular during rush hour traffic.
The research will focus on possible ways to cut the peak, partly by examining how individuals' behavior can change through nudging and whether the level of awareness regarding the peak increases, and partly by studying how decisions at a strategic level can enable changes that can lead to a more even traffic flow and increased capacity.
In the project, we will analyze what is required for passengers to change their specific behavior.
Furthermore, by creating the conditions for collaboration at a higher level in organizations, we can gain insights on how to increase communication, eg. applicable start times for schools and workplaces, can contribute to reduced rush hour traffic and thereby less congestion and a better environment.
The insights developed will be used by decision-makers at different levels.
