Managing change in historic buildings – A systems dynamics approach for understanding the relationship between energy efficiency and heritage values

The project aims to develop a systems dynamic model, that is a model on how users (i.e. residents,officers, managers) of historic buildings in Sweden make decisions on energy efficiency and to what degree those decisions are driven by the cultural and social meanings (heritage values) they attach to those buildings over time.

By doing so, the impact of such decisions on energy futures of historic buildings can be better understood.

The ultimate goal is to, through increased understanding, to develop a system dynamic model that can be used for informing adapted tools, guidelines and policies for how increased energy efficiency can be achieved with respect to heritage values of buildings.
