Results from two previous projects, funded by the Swedish Energy Agency, are used to launch a new type of energy and resource efficient masonry external walls. The energy use can be lowered by 25 percent, without increasing the total thickness of the external walls. The change is enabled by strengthening of the load bearing part of the walls by externally bonded reinforcement, making it possible to reduce the thickness of the walls.
The space saved in this way is used to apply more thermal insulation. Single family houses and commercial buildings built with the new technology will meet the more rigorous energy performance requirements set by Directive 2012/27/EU on Energy Efficiency, be more resource and climate efficient and consequently be attractive on the market.
The project will deal with: finalizing the development of wall details, execution and design methods; construction of demo walls with full detailing; use of the technology in real world projects.
