Modvion is changing the wind industry by enabling efficient logistics for> 150m high turbine towers in previously inaccessible locations, at a lower cost. Wind power becomes more environmentally friendly by building the towers of renewable wood. This is an example of innovative wooden construction in a demanding application where the joints is essential to the load-carrying capacity.
Today, there are no European building standards covering fatigue of high-performance joints for wood construction, so requirements are set for testing and certification to enable market introduction for the technology. The project aims to carry out a test program in a laboratory with the aim of producing a basis
1.for certification of the joint technology for Modvion's wind turbine towers
2.which can be applied in the calculation and construction of advanced wooden structures, i.e wind turbines, and serve as basis for further development of general understanding of joints subjected to fatigue loads.
