The stock of detached historic houses in Sweden has a significant untapped potential for energy efficiency.
In this interdisciplinary study, we want to contribute to a deeper understanding of how this potential can be realized, focusing on detached houses built in 1910-1970.
The project will survey this stock of buildings with regard to original building construction, retrofits carried out and the extent to which the buildings’ heritage values are protected.
Furthermore, the project will contribute to an increased understanding of how municipal management of this building stock works in practice, and how owners of historic detached houses relate to energy efficiency and preservation.
In the project, packages of customized energy efficiency measures will be identified for ten representative historic detached houses, and a handbook addressed to property owners, energy advisers and contractors will be produced.
