Poor mental health affects large numbers of people every year and has far reaching consequences, including poorer life expectancy and quality of life, higher risk of poor physical health, and higher risk of poorer socioeconomic outcomes such as unemployment and homelessness (Walker et al., 2015; McManus, 2016).

The London Borough of Haringey has is delivering Community Protect, which aims to improve and maintain the mental health and wellbeing of a range of key populations within Haringey.

The seven priority groups are: i. those who are BAME ii. those whose first language is not English iii. low income households iv. older people v. people with autism or learning disabilities vi. homeless people and rough sleepers, vii. young people not in education, employment or training.

This qualitative process evaluation of Community Protect aims to understand how the programme is implemented, and how involvement in the Community Protect (CP) activities may impact on mental health (including service access/use) and social connectedness for those in each of the seven priority groups.

Methods include interviews, observations, stakeholder events and analysis of project monitoring data.
