Grant Description

This research proposal centers on the circulation of images, addressed through three main aspects: image theory, pedagogical and transmission strategies, and new media approaches.

Aiming to map key theories of images, this research takes the Cehta (Centre de Théorie et Histoire de l'Art) at EHESS as its starting point.

The research period will focus on exploring the archives of three former Cehta members (Louis Marin, Hubert Damisch, and Georges Didi-Huberman), held at IMEC (Institut Mémoires de l'Edition Contemporaine) in Caen, France.

Forms of image circulation include magazines, interviews, course programs, syllabi, exhibitions, and publications such as catalogues and books, along with various textual and paratextual apparatuses.

Methodologically, the project includes the creation of a film-essay featuring conversations with current and former Cehta members.

Additionally, a seminar will be conducted at EHESS, focusing on methodologies for researching and teaching image theory.
