Grant Description
In September 2022, CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited (CPGL) and PowerChina pledged to donate and install 116 solar street lights to Moraikobai American Indian Village. The purpose of the donation was to help with the lack of lighting facilities in the community. The monetary value of this donation is unknown.
On November 21, engineers of PowerChina arrived to install the lights and provide skill training to the local villagers.
On December 10, 2022, there was a completion ceremony for a total of 130 solar street lamps and 8 flood lights installed in Moraikobai.
The ceremony was attended by Ambassador Guo Haiyan, Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment, Mr Vickram Bharrat, and other officials from the Ministry of Education and Region 5.
