On June 3, 2022, the first batch of approximately 512,640 domestic enoxaparin sodium injections worth RMB 10 million arrived in Colombo. This batch contains 256,320 syringes of the medicine.
Present at the arrival were the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka Chandra Gupta. Two additional batches were delivered on June 25 and June 27. On June 30, 2022, a handover ceremony for the three batches of medicine, totaling to 510,000 doses was held.
In attendance was Qi Zhenzhong and the Sri Lankan Minister of Health. These doses are expected to last Sri Lanka about 6 months and aid Sri Lanka in a time of need.
Enoxaparin sodium is an anticoagulant medication (blood thinner), commonly used to treat and prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) including during pregnancy and following certain types of surgery.
This project is part of CIDCA's 500 million RMB humanitarian package to Sri Lanka committed in May 2022 (Record ID#98982).
The first batch was donated to Sri Lanka in June 2022 (Record ID#99009); the second batch was donated in September 2022 (Record ID#99245); the third batch was donated in October 2022 (Record ID#100331); the fourth batch was donated in December 2022 (Record ID#98717); the final batch was donated in January 2023 (Record ID#108044).
