China Eximbank provides $152 million loan to Iusacell Celular for 3G Network Construction Project In 2004, Iusacell Celular S.A. de C.V. — a major Mexican telecommunications company owned by Grupo Salinas via its subsidiary Movil@ccess and a leading CDMA2000 operator in Mexico — secured one or more China Eximbank loans worth $152 million for the build out of a 3G network in Mexico.
The borrower was expected to use the loan proceeds to finance one or more commercial contracts with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.
The purpose of the 3G Network Construction Project was to introduce the hybrid Access Network solution of CDMA2000 1X and EV-DO operating on 800MHz and 1900MHz, thereby fulfilling the requirements of Iusacell Celular S.A. de C.V. for service expansion from 2G to 3G.
