On September 11, 2021, the Weifang provincial government and city government of Guaranda held a video conference on how to best combat the COVID-19 pandemic and express support to each other.

During this call, they held a signing ceremony where the Weifang provincial government pledged to donate 30,000 medical masks.

On December 20, 2021, the city government of Guaranda reported receiving 40,000 medical masks and 1,000 units of face protection screens from the Weifang provincial government.
